Goal

          The main purpose of this project is to redesign existing Sacombank app to facilitate the users to accomplish their necessary tasks on banking app. The new design makes the app become more intuitive and usable to easily log in, make quick transfer transactions and check account details clearly. 

Role 

          My role is to find out the problem of using the bank app, then figure out the effective solutions, and finally redesign the interface of Sacombank Smartbanking app based on the user research. 

Problem

         The common complaint about Sacombank Smartbanking App is that its interface performs poorly, out of fashion and is complicated for users to navigate the function on the app. It is hard to use on the run such as log in, transfer money, account checking when comparing with other bank apps. 

Design process 

1.Empathise 
    
    Competitor research:
          I looked into other smart banking App from other competitors to see how those apps perform. In conclusion, those apps have minimalist design and are usable that users easily complete their tasks quickly and smoothly. 

    User research :
         To understand the pain points of users, I collected the user feedback from app stores such as GooglePlay and Appstore​​​​​​​.
          And, in order to gain a deeper understanding of problems users face when using apps, it is necessary to undertake the observation technique to see how users interact with the app while making a short individual interview after that. Therefore, I conducted an interview with 5 users using Sacombank Smart banking App often to observe and track their journey in interacting with the app.

2.Define 

        Unfortunately, after the research, the cons are over the pros when users give feedback about the experience of using the app. These paint points are pointed out from the analysis:

        HOMEPAGE:

        Some users feel that it takes time to log in their bank account and it requires some unnecessary further steps to complete the task. In addition,  the unclear and poor design of the menu page makes users become bored and difficult to navigate the next steps to complete their tasks. 

       TRANSFER MONEY PROCESS:

       There is an abundance of required information in the transfer section, which causes confusion to users. And the users become nervous to make further steps to complete the transfer transaction. Also, it is important to send them the successful confirmation of transfer money after each transaction they make.

3.Ideate 

        As the problem is identified, it is important to find out the effective solutions to make the app perform better and easier. Although there are many problems mentioned in research, I only resolved few problems in this project: login and homepage, account details, transfer money process and transfer confirmation. 

      USER FLOW:

      I created the model of user flow to map out each step that users will take to complete their task as below:
         WIREFRAME:

        Based on user flow, I created a low-fidelity design layout that makes the ideal closer to reality.

          SOLUTION:
         In comparison with old version of bank app, the redesigned login screen is all-in-one which users are able to complete the task quickly.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
            I also reorganised the homepage to bring every function of bank app in front of the eyes that users can navigate and take an action on the task easily and quickly. In addition, the bank account detail is added on Homepage as dragging the bar down.  

PROTOTYPE
Finally, I turned my sketch of low-fi into a prototype version by using Figma to create each screen and effect. 
EVALUATION
          Usability testing was conducted with those interviewers to see how the improved design of bank app works or not. After reviewing and interacting with the hi-fi version of new design, the users gave the feedback as below:

         Login: It is quicker and easier for users to log in to their bank account with all-in-one screen. It takes very short time to complete the login task.

         Homepage: The information and sections are organized on homepage as users can navigate effortlessly and quickly their task they want to take. However, they are not really satisfied with the drag down button cause it is small, so they suggest to chang the button to the drag down arrow. 

        Transfer money: Users are satisfied with the new transfer section with short form of required information that they can accomplish the tasks faster. and , they praised for the successful confirmation at the end of transaction that they feel secure more about the task they complete.
