OurSoftware “Sign Language Studio”focuses on objective of “Achieving Primary Education For Disabled People”. Webelieve Education barrier for Hearing Impaired people is a great problem allover the world. Our Application is an innovative approach to impart educationto this special class of people through Schools, Colleges and SpecialInstitutions. It would remove the tough challenge we face - “Primary Education”especially for deaf community around the globe and would bridge thecommunication gap. We believe many current solutions exist but none of them iseasily available, interactive or simple for teachers and students to understandand learn from. Hence we hope to remove the problem of Education through thisApplication.
1. How does our Solution solve the problem of Communication Barrier for Deaf Community?
Our Software was made to create a simpler way of effective education for Hearing Impaired people. The current problem of Learning and Communication gap for these special people is at focus. The is application aims to remove that problem by starting right at special schools, institutions and colleges where teachers can impart education to Deaf Community children and students in a much more easy and simple way . We believe Visual Learning in Sign Language would grip their mind more hence special care has been taken to implement each feature. Our Application is economically viable and with Sign Language this Application fulfills easy Learning, Communication.
2. What are sections we have implemented in our Solution?
Our Software is mainly based on three main sections namely :
1. Learning Terminal: This terminal focuses on teaching the students basic things like Mathematical Numbers, Simple Number Calculations in Sign Language; secondly there is section on Alphabets where students can learn the English Alphabets in Sign Language. After this they can start learning some advanced things like Words and Sentences. With a vocabulary of more than 2,50,00 English Words with meanings and over 4,500 Sign Language Expression Videos and basic Sentence collection of over 1000 we divided the learning of Words and Sentences in two sections one is Reading English Words, Sentences and the other is communicating in English Words and Sentence. Reading Words and Sentences focuses to translate the English Words or Sentences entered by teachers in Sign Alphabets one that they can understand. As spoken earlier our Vocabulary is over 2, 50,000 hence for any word entered we show the meaning of that word in Sign Translated text. Added to our vocabulary we also used XML Web Service through Microsoft BING Live Search API to search for Encarta Dictionary online and instant meaning is shown to students in Sign Text. After learning how to read Words and Sentences in Sign Text the next big step was to help them express themselves and speak in Sign Language. With a Sign Language Expression Videos Database of more than 4,500 we were able to show them how to express and speak practically and word or English Sentence in Sign Language. The expressions are easy and demonstrated in Videos which would help them to learn and communicate. One very interesting thing in this terminal is implementation of Microsoft Speech API which enables teachers to speak on the microphone and record their voice which later is shown to the student in Sign Text translation or Sign Language Expression whichever is chosen! This gives freedom to go beyond our sentence database and educate them to learn any sentence
2. Student Exams Terminal: This terminal is the continuation from where Learning terminal ends. After the Students learn how to read and express any English Alphabets , Words, Sentences or Numbers it is time to take some exams, as described earlier this Application has been made keeping in mind the education is best started in school through teachers so each exam has been divided in two sections Practice Test and Rated Test. In Practice Students can practice any number of questions and try to answer them. Rated exams are very similar to real exams, questions are put forward and they have to give answers and results are declared at the end. Here again the resource of questions is huge as questions are created from a collection of Sign Language Text for Words , Numbers, Alphabets and Sign Expression Videos as mentioned before in Learning terminal
3. Competitions Terminal: Lastly the Competition terminal, with the implementation of Microsoft Multi Mouse Feature we could create a simulated environment for students to connect and compete with each other. We limited the number of connections to three meaning which three Students can sit together on a single computer and compete with each other in learning Sign Language in various skills like Mathematical Numbers, English Alphabets and English Words. This is more of a fun learning as we strongly believe that such students would be able to grip enjoyable learning much more easily than bookish learning. With a competition for each skill it would create an efficient way of learning the Sign Language while competing with fellow friends

1. Teachers in Schools , Colleges , Special Institutions for Hearing Impaired Community
2. Parents at home who want learn Sign Language themselves so that they can communicate with Hearing Impaired people
3. Any people who want to get used to and learn Sign Language, test their competence through our exams and practice test.
4. Most importantly the Hearing Impaired Students themselves who can learn from this Application an extensive vocabulary of English Words, Sentences starting with simple Alphabets and Numbers. With rated exams, practice tests and competitions they would be benefitted to learn quickly and easily.
5. Various NGOs and Communities (for benefit of Deaf people) can use our Application to bridge the communication gap between them and the world thereby generating an awareness extending our help to them for future education.
4. Reasons why this Solution can be realized in real life?
For a solution to be deployed in real life the primary goal is to how well the solution solves the current problem and replaces the existing systems keeping in mind the effectiveness , practicality and outcome should be realistic.
The project does not require any pre-requisite advanced software or costly hardware and technically speaking the software only needs Microsoft .NET 4 framework. Therefore our application is not only economically viable but also easily accessible, speaking of which this application caters itself to institutions providing primary education for Deaf community. Drawing a conclusion to our viewpoint is that this Application not just replaces current scenario of education for Deaf Community but serves as a platform for a solution based on which the life of these special people can be made better.
