Chicago / New York City was a personal project inspired by the poetry of Carl Sandburg and Walt Whitman: a unique single-edition, hybrid art book/3D sculpture featuring hand lettering and laser-cut on acrylic, typographically illustrating Sandburg’s poem “Chicago” and Whitman’s “Mannahatta.”

The text design was inspired by 1930's street signs, the lettering of awnings and signage reflected through light that made both Chicago and New York the vibrant cities they were during the Prohibition Era. This project highlights my design and execution of unique lettering with a high degree of precision and creativity.
