THE CONTEXT
The CHIC Project is an innovation and technology development initiative in the area of media with the main objective of developing a set of products, services and systems. An initiative that has the company MOG Technologies as a promoter and, among the many collaborations, has the partnership of the University of Porto, Catholic University of Portugal, Jornal Notícias and Gema Digital.

THE STUDY
The application presented here is part an academic project for my master degree dissertation in Multimedia at FEUP. I joined a group of investigation leaded by the P.h.d. professors Pedro Cardoso and Andreia Sousa Pinto. With four other students, each one with their focus of interest, we joined forces to develop two applications for the project CHIC.

THE PROJECT
This project aims the development of a digital location-based system that provides the users experiences focused on exploring tourist attractions in a playful way. To develop this digital system it is necessary to design two interdependent applications. An authoring tool that enables content creators to design interactive narratives using geolocation as a key element of the experience. Along with a mobile application that allows travellers to experience these narratives.
THE DESIGN
My role in the project is mainly focused on interaction and user interface design. The main objective of the authoring tool is to enable the content creator to design an interactive narrative and the user's traversal thought the narrative. I contribute with designing interactions for the system, interface structures and translating narrative concepts to intuitive actions and visual codes.

THE RESULTS (SO FAR...)
Here its presented part of the results of the authoring tool. After investigating UX, Interaction Design, User Interface standards, benchmarking, wireframes and user testing, the authoring tool was ready for its first version.
The study and the projects are in progress and more updates and new versions are still to come.

ABOUT
