Campaign - The Largest Book Party in Saint Louis

A Bit of Background
The Largest Book Party in Saint Louis (LBP) is an event hosted by First Book-St. Louis to provide a fun morning of story time, snacks, and giving out free new books to children from low-income families. The launch of this event in 2013 began with a crowdfunding campaign to raise enough money to host the party.

The Campaign
A 30-day crowdfunding effort for the non-profit organization First Book-St. Louis. Created all graphics for this potential event as we attempted to get it funded through the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

A Successful Campaign - The Party is On
After the crowdfunding campaign successfully reached (surpassed, actually) its goal, a few other designs were needed.
Event Invitation
Wanted a different kind of invitation, one that would also serve as a poster for the event for the recipient groups to pin up on their boards in schools and after-school programs. The full design was 11x17in, then would be folded in quaters to fit in a 6x9 envelope. The design thus had to have a quarter section that would be the first thing the recipient would see when pulling it from the envelope - including all information to act as the invitation by itself, but also suggest that it is meant to be unfolded. The lower right quarter of the design served this purpose.
Invitation Drafts
Showing process from an initial drawn design (using a tablet) to a more refined verison. #1 is the beginning concept (a few other ideas were also attempted, but this one was ultimately chosen). #2 includes correct details and colors. #3 filled in the balloons but still kept a bit of the hand-drawn elements. #4 transitioned to completely solid fills and other smooth adjustments. It also added some transparancy elements to provide some hierarchy.  #5 was another color option to better focus the viewer. #6 was after a test print, finding that some of the transparancies deviated from the theme colors too much (i.e. the red became too orange).
Final Invitation
The final invitation design sent to print. After several iterations and test prints at home, this less cluttered design was chosen. The elements were trimmed to focus more on what was necessary, while still keeping some hand-lettering and other drawn aspects.
