As one of my final projects for my Journalism Graphics undergraduate degree, we were tasked with creating our own magazine concept, from the actual focus of the magazine, to the design and layout of the content, and even creation of the advertisements within. The only part of this magazine that didn't have to be original were the photos used (although many of the photos in mine I took myself, including the cover photo), as well as most of the copy text. The main focus of the project was to show we could layout an entire magazine spread and come up with a realistic concept for a magazine.

I created VOL magazine, which is short for volunteer. The concept behind VOL magazine is to cover various volunteering efforts in the East Central Indiana area. The focus of the issue that I mocked up was on the Alternative Breaks Association, which is a student organization at Ball State University that spends their fall and spring breaks volunteering throughout the country instead of vacationing!

Below are a few snippets of some of the spreads inside of the magazine!
