The Manheim Marketplace iPad app was conceived of as a next generation auction for the world’s largest automobile auctioneer. The cross-platform, cross-environment interface allows buyers and bidders to remotely participate in live auctions in real-time and with complete fidelity. It also empowers users with online-only market tools, tailored recommendations, a customizable multi-lane perspective incorporating simulcast audio and video, and new social networking and gamification elements that make the app as valuable to users at our auction houses as it does to those in their home or in the office.
Proof of concept demos of the Manheim Marketplace app—as well as its associated desktop and in- lane interfaces—so impressed the executive leadership that plans are currently underway to fast-track the application to release and to incorporate its innovations into the web and existing mobile apps.
