Info architecture simply put is figuring out where to place what information such that the information flow matches the user’s mental model and makes navigation easy, meaningful and un-ambiguous.


Objective

The objective was to create the Information Architecture for a product guide. Sari was chosen as the product as there is great variety, there are multiple ways in which the user may try to search for a sari hence greater the challenge.

User Study:

User group for whom the study was conducted: College girls, Home makers, Young Professions, Middle aged working women & Elderly women.

User study was undertaken among to understand:
    • Ways in which people approach the task of buying a saree.
    • The priority of various attributes involved in the decision making process
    • The sequence of tasks performed
    • thought process and planning
Once the user decides/ has an idea of the shops that are providing her the type of sari she wants (and also of the shop location), What kind of secondary information does she look for & in what order does she look for it?

From the user study it was understood that most users wanted more information on:Address, User Rating, Telephone number, web-site, Working hours & the other products available in the same shop. And the order in which they looked for it are as below:
