This is my attempt to make my own visual journal of historic and contemporary artifacts and movements. This is part of my ACVL100 Assignment 3 where i am required to research art movements from the 20th century. With these art works and movements i will be comparing the original and modern versions to each other.
I will be comparing a historical artwork from the Art Deco Movement to a contemporary artwork through visual analysis.
Art Deco, sometimes is referred to as just Deco and is a style of visual arts, architecture and design that appeared in France just before World War I. Art Deco influenced and inspired the design of buildings, furniture, jewelry, fashion, cars, movie theaters, trains, ocean liners, and everyday objects such as radios and the television. Characteristics of Art Deco are smooth wall surfaces, sharp edged, linear appearance and stylized decorative elements using geometrical forms, zigzags, chevrons. They also have low relief decorative panels, stepped or set back front facade, Strips of windows with decorative spandrels and reeding and fluting around doors and windows.
