Stories you can taste
Unilever Wall's

What happens when you mix stories with ice-cream? You get stories you can taste!

We were tasked to develop a digital campaign that would appeal to moms. We thought what better way than to create video content in the form of ice-cream recipe stories for the whole family to enjoy.

'Stories You Can Taste' comprises of 15 story recipe videos housed within one interactive diorama video that lives on Youtube. Visit the Youtube channel for the full delectable experience.
The case study video.
The diorama world.
1 of 15 ice-cream recipe stories.
1) The Dreamy Hare & The Tortoise 2) Alice in Dreamy Creamy Land 3) Little Red Strawberry Hood 4) Pistachio
5) Snow White & The 7 Marshmallows
6) The Sweet Duckling 7) The Magical Ice Cream Pot 8) Cinderella’s Banana Slipper 9) The Lion & The Creamy Mouse
10) Aladdin & The Fruity Lamp
11) Rapunzel & The Tower of Wafers 12) The Creamy Princess & The Pea 13) Sleeping Beauty & Her Wafer Bed
14) Goldilocks & The Three Gummy Bears 15) The Creamy Gingerbread Man
While the food stylist lent her expertise on food simulation and food pairings, I applied my design skills in creating the protagonists for the 15 ice cream stories. I never had this much fun with food!

Here's The Creamy Princess & The Pea. She lies wide awake with her blanket of mango slices and a chocolate biscuit for a pillow. She looks upwards with her piercing candy blue eyes as she fails to fall asleep. Her golden caramel hair gracefully flows down the stacked bed. Her jellybean blue shoes are such a nice contrast to the sharp pink wafer bed.
A Pocky stick for Pistachio's growing nose! An overturned cone for his hat.
The Sweet Duckling meets his potential self when he comes into contact with a graceful ice-cream swan.
The development of the diorama world. Here's how we saw it forming up (and how we convinced the client of the concept) before briefing the production houses. The connection of how one recipe story leads to another from the terrain and its environment were all well considered.
When developing the connection between the stories, we realised how most stories would actually 'share' some characters. I took the opportunity to cheekily apply them within the diorama world. The rabbit in The Dreamy Tortoise and The Hare also played the role of the rabbit in Alice in Dreamy Creamy Land.
Page 3 of 4. The development of one of the recipe videos. On top of infusing the storytelling within the recipe instructions, these were also considered; macro food shots, stop motion animation for the introduction of ingredients, typographic treatment for the instructions and 2D support animation for the recipe stories.
