The Wave Walker was designed to promote group interaction as participants move a water filled interface to produce audible feedback in the form of pitch bent sound files. It simulates the motion of walking on a floating platform. It was originally conceived as a group interface to prepare audience members to move together on a moving ship set that determined the narrative course in a theatrical performance.
The rocking motion caused when splashing water out of the sides applies realtime fx to nautically themed sound files in a Max/Msp application through a hacked PS2 Gametrack golf interface that manually pulls strings attached to the corners of the platform.
