I started drawing long before I even got into photography, but for some reason I always identified myself only as a photographer and later on as a graphic designer. Illustration was for me something that I only did from time to time, most of the times thinking that I can't draw just because my first try of a new subject was not great.
It only took a few months of quarantine to realize how wrong I was. To realize how much I enjoyed drawing - both on paper and digitally and that you really have to put in the work to get better.
A few tutorials later and lots of sketchbook pages filled with studies of drawing the correct proportions, I tried to do my first portrait based on a reference photo. It is not perfect, I still have a lot to learn, but I am stubborn enough to persevere and, in time, get much better.
Albert Einstein, A4 paper, HB and 4B pencils.
Bonus: I created the portrait below to be hung on the wall facing the entrance to the apartment. Something to make one smile when coming home.
