Il basamento riproduce la mappatura lunare del Mare della tranquillità. Il movimento delle curve di livello, tipico linguaggio della geologia, ci parla dello sforzo scientifico nel razionalizzare e comprendere la natura. Il chiaroscuro netto e la tonalità di grigio aggiungono una vibrazione scura, che rende l’oggetto misterioso e seducente. I due temi, progresso scientifico ed esplorazione dell’ignoto, convergono nell’oggetto per restituire all’occhio il significato del momento storico.

The pen stand reproduces the lunar mapping of the Sea of tranquility. The detailed isocurves, typical cartographic sign in geology, tell about the scientific effort to rationalize and understand nature, while the strong chiaroscuro and the dark shade of gray add a mysterious and seductive feeling. The two themes: scientific progress and exploration of the unknown, converge in the object to express the meaning of the historical moment.
