This is one of course project in my school. A linocut printing project.
This project is inspired by the poem title "Đoàn thuyền đánh cá" (The fishing boat fleet), one of my favorite works.The first stage was sketching, I did it in photoshop because it was very easy, and I could change or try out many different color options, and in the end I chose orange for the boat and blue for wave.
But this is just an idea concept.
The second stage is carving, I use a block of wood instead of fomex. I draw the entire picture on the block then engrave the line.The process isn't as hard as you might think, in fact, it's the most enjoyable part.
And the hardest, most time consuming part is printing
The color I used here is goauche, I painted it on wood and then printed on black paper
I made 3 versions of it, 1 version for display, 2 versions for modeling.
The shape I chose is a fan, it's very simple and easy to make, I just go to the store, buy a fan, then remove the spokes, then stick my print on it like a fan paper.
I created a "night version" for the back of the fan, just by changing the sky background color to dark blue.

The time has come to show all my work.
But sadly, I only got a D (about 5/10 or worse) for this, my teacher said the shape is too simple, it needs more creases and has to fold like a fan actual paper, in addition my paintings should be in the style of classical woodcutting.
I'm very sad about it, my friends too, they love it, I love it too. :((
Anyway, i love my works, i love lino printing too, maybe one day i will make another works???
