ANCIENT EGYPT FASHION COLLECTION

A series of fashion illustrations inspired by Ancient Egyptian fashion, art and motifs.

I explored the theme through designing five outfits based on a particular animal that was considered sacred in Ancient Egypt.

The Eagle
Since the ancient time of king Ra until the modern age, the eagle has been the national symbol of Egypt. Even today, the eagle can be seen in the Egyptian flag. Eagles symbolise strength, leadership and courage.

The Cat
To the Ancient Egyptians, cats were considered magical beings and they could bring good luck to the people who looked after them. When the cats died, they were often mummified. Cats represented justice and fertility.

The Cobra
The cobra was associated with the sun god, the kings and their families. A symbol of protection, it was believed to guard the gates of the underworld, ward off the enemies of the royals and guide the deceased on their journey through the underworld.

The Scarab Beetle
The sacred scarab beetle is probably one of the most recognisable images from ancient Egypt. The scarab beetle was a symbol of rebirth, creation and regeneration.

The Jackal
Anubis, the Ancient Egyptian god of death was represented by a jackal. The jackal was considered as the guardian of the dead and was associated with mummification and the afterlife.
