The Hivette: Your Next BFF
Packaging, Pattern
Menstrual cups are still stigmatized in Malaysia but there is a growing movement to become more eco-friendly. The Hivette menstrual cup by The Hive Bulk Foods is Malaysia's first locally-branded menstrual cup, as they determine in promoting a zero-waste lifestyle.

The objective is to create a limited-edition structural packaging to encourage the usage of cups. The cup lasts for years to come, so I thought why not the packaging too? By making it as not just something to protect the product and be thrown away, but also as display art when the cup is not in use.
The shape of the design is inspired by traditional beehives and table succulents. Origami accessories are attached through metal fasteners so they can be placed differently or removed, creating an interactive experience that doubles as a personalisation option.

To reflect sustainability values, natural materials such as wood and cotton were used. The Hive also supports local causes, incorporating handmade weaving techniques opens up an option for the limited packaging to be produced by refugees.
Pattern Motifs
A set of Patterns were made to be applied onto secondary items: Reusable heat packs and Reusable cotton pads. Paired up with the menstrual cup, they make a friendly kit! To ease new users into the unfamiliar menstrual cup by matching it with familiar items.
