Ilkal Craft Cluster - Zero waste jacket

Ilkal Craft Cluster - Zero waste jacket

In Kannada, village home means ‘Halliya Mane’.
They say home is where the heart is and for this project, our team decided to get inspired from this heart of Ilkal handloom weavers, which is Sulebhavi, in North Karnataka
their home.

While doing this craft cluster project, Sulebhavi life was captured up close; their lifestyle, family relationships, food habits, daily activities, weaving activities, cultural aspects and so on, which culminated into the inspiration for this collection.

A hand-made beautiful fabric made with dedication should be left intact, is the thought behind this zero-waste boxy fit jacket. Rectangle and square patterns are inspired by the doors and windows of Sulebhavi. The prominent Ilkal pallu has been used at the back side. Belt is an added feature. Traditional fringes at the bottom have been kept intact at the hem. Saree border as a collar is the eye-catching element.
