POST-HUMAN ERA: FILTERED

POST-HUMAN ERA: FILTERED
As the division between virtual and reality is increasingly blurred as our digital avatars merge with our real life selves. We are a population undergoing self-regeneration through the power of technology. In a digital world we can be whatever we want. These facial adornments are inspired by punk iconography that aims to combat the social media’s idealization of beauty. Allowing the wearers to customize their appearance at will as a real life filter, empowering them through enhancement and establish the new beauty of post-human era.
In the 70s , the punk subculture in London was a rejection of all things proper, conventionally pretty, and mainstream combined with economic crisis to create the unmistakable new look. Piercings of the ears, face, and other body parts were performed in kitchens with safety pins. The piercing subculture slowly spread a new message: that different is beautiful.
The collection plays with different thicknesses of silver spikes and wire while softening the pieces by adding pearl accents. The glossy look of silver evokes the cold and cosmic feeling of the future lifestyle, while the hyperreal finish of pearl resembles the futuristic glossy texture. The collection is a fit for everyone as there are no more binary gender roles in post-human era. There is no more just being girls or boys today. With the pieces we decide who we become.
