Survivor Skateboard Project
One day I was in a skate shop and the people around me were complaining about their decks paint job getting all scratched up. When I painted my first board, as a gift, I set my mind to solving this problem. I decided that the only way to avoid showing marks was to use a minimal amount of paint, which geared me to embrace American Flash Tattoo stylings. To ensure longevity I used watered down acrylic paints so the designs would soak into the wood. Each board is finished with 7 layers of lacquer to provide a buffer zone between the designs and the inevitable scratches. Inspired by the theme of longevity I looked to the world around me, a desert environment, where animals thrive in spite of bad conditions.
