Get Real: Exhibition Branding

During the chaos of a global pandemic and the cancellation of many graduate shows across the country, I was tasked with designing the brand identity for Edinburgh College's graphic design show. The branding had to be adaptable for both a physical and digital show depending on lockdown restrictions and also had to grab people's attention in the midst of many other graduate shows.

The branding is inspired the messy, chaotic nature of real design. Instead of hiding the imperfections and unpredictability of the design process, it aims to celebrate them instead.
The logo for the exhibition is bold and hand-lettered to give the brand a human feel. I also designed a logo gif using my own hand-lettering iterations of the 'Real' logo.

The posters for the exhibition followed the same theme: celebrating the design process and its challenges in different ways using textures, bold colours and hand-lettering:

A concept for a newspaper showcasing graduate work:

An interactive instagram campaign where people can submit their own ideas about what real design means to them. This would start a conversation and build interest around Edinburgh College's graduate show:

A direct mail campaign designed as another way to capture peoples attention and interest in the exhibition:
As the project progressed, the campaign became mainly focused on social media due to lockdown restrictions and so I created a series of short videos for twitter which aimed to tell the stories of the students graduating in 2020:
