P.B.'s Takeout is a small restaurant located at 1412 S.Hawthorne Road, in the historic Ardmore neighborhood of Winston-Salem, NC. Established in 1987 in a building that was once a bakery, P.B.'s has acquired a reputation for excellent hot dogs. They have won numerous readers' polls in local news publications for "Best Hot Dog," and have a large, loyal customer base. My partner and I approached them about designing some T-shirts. I love the clean lines of that little building--it just cried out for a line-art rendering.
For the back of the shirt, I modified the hot dog figure painted on the side of the building, and added some hand lettered text--I love to draw letters, so I like to incorporate hand lettering in my design work whenever possible. We worked with Screen Scene, a locally owned print shop, to screen print the shirts with the artwork I supplied them.
The T-shirts have proved to be hugely popular among employees and customers alike: we recently delivered them a 5th reorder of 6 dozen pieces.
