AĀ mandalaĀ (emphasis on first syllable;Ā SanskritĀ ą¤®ą¤£ą„ą¤”ą¤², maį¹įøala ā literally "circle") is a geometric configuration of symbols. In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of practitioners and adepts, as a spiritual guidance tool, for establishing aĀ sacred spaceĀ and as an aid toĀ meditationĀ andĀ tranceĀ induction. In theĀ Eastern religionsĀ ofĀ Hinduism,Ā Buddhism,Ā JainismĀ andĀ Shintoismit is used as a map representing deities, or specially in the case of Shintoism, paradises,Ā kamiĀ or actual shrines.
InĀ New Age, the mandala is a diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents theĀ cosmosĀ metaphysically or symbolically; aĀ time-microcosmĀ of theĀ universe, but it is originally meant to represent wholeness and a model for the organizational structure of life itself, a cosmic diagram that shows the relation to the infinite and the world that extends beyond and within minds and bodies.
CymaticsĀ (fromĀ Ancient Greek:Ā Īŗįæ¦Ī¼Ī±,Ā romanized:Ā kyma,Ā lit.Ā 'wave') is a subset ofĀ modal vibrational phenomena. The term was coined byĀ Hans JennyĀ (1904-1972), a Swiss follower of the philosophical school known asĀ anthroposophy. Typically the surface of a plate, diaphragm, or membrane is vibrated, and regions of maximum and minimum displacement are made visible in a thin coating of particles, paste, or liquid.[1]Different patterns emerge in the excitatory medium depending on the geometry of the plate and the driving frequency.
