Alex Mandel's profile

Finance Application for the Developing World

Last semester, I studied abroad in Rio de Janeiro and had the opportunity to intern with a company creating an OS and applications catered to the needs of people in developing areas of the world.  I was assigned this project, to design a finance management application based on the needs of the people living in favelas (slums) in Rio.

For the first half of this project, I was managing a team of other students back in Berkeley (attributed at the bottom).  For the second half I was mainly working alone.  My mentors gave me free reign over the project, so the process I followed was my own as well.

This piece focuses heavily on the process I followed, rather than final deliverables, for the final deliverables, scroll down to the bottom.

Enjoy!
