3 Ravens
The original artwork for this piece appeared in the 1922 book titled "Household Stories from the Collection of the Bros. Grimm" by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm, and Lucy and Walter Crane. It was published by London: Macmillan & Co. (the piece is therefore in the Public Domain). The birds come from the German Fairytale, Trusty John. In the tale, the ravens are messengers, bringing news, warnings, and advice to the main character.
This piece is 14 inches in diameter on stained pine with copper, silver, and gold leaf.
