#flumesounds resampling


The project is based on the challenge of Grammy Award winner producer Flume, called #flumesounds, which made it possible to create your own music by downloading a free sample pack. The 30-60 second long musical ideas and experiments were processed by using different sampling methods, such as microsampling, granular synthesis, warping, direct sampling, loop and slice. The musical elements (drums, bass, pad, lead, fx) were created by using these sounds only.

Just as the music was built up by sampling the already existing sounds, the artwork was also created by remixing the original design. To be specific, I used the granular synthesis method, by which new sounds are created as a scanner follows and processes the sound along with different algorithms and automatizations.
I also created a granular scanner with After Effects, which selected small elements from the original cover and built up a new one by using these fragments. Then I inserted the image in a 3D space and finalized it there.
