The client develops life skills courses specifically for high school students. The course content is supplied in Word format. I use Indesign to create the page layouts, forward PDF proofs, make changes as requested and supply the books in print ready format for publication. A lot of the concepts in these books can be quite abstract - this makes image sourcing a lot of fun because you need to make associations and connections in order to choose imagery that further illustrates or enhances the concept.

Vision for the Waiting Room was a bi-monthly publication, serving to promote the Optometry and the Optical Industry in South Africa. The magazine aimed to demystify eye care and ocular disease, and was distributed to optometry practices nationwide. I was privileged to do the layout for this magazine for 3 years, but in March 2020 the worldwide Cornonavirus pandemic put a halt in production and caused the end of a 26 year era for Vision for the Waiting Room. 

But ... the format was subsequently adapted to fit the new normal and the ever evolving digital world, and in June 2020 we launched the first Vision eMagazine. Vision eMagazine is hosted on Issuu and is now reaching a far wider audience than ever before via various social media platforms. This is also exciting for our advertisers, as we are able to publish live links for more online exposure.

The client is a vibrant Private Higher Education Institution with campuses in Pretoria and Cape Town, South Africa. ​​​​​​​

-  T h e  P r o s p e c t u s  -
This is an annual project. A mass of information needs to be conveyed in a very sensible, organised and concise fashion. Working with the marketing team from the Academy, making sure the prospectus is aligned with what appeals to a young student audience is another one of the key objectives.
A change in trends is evident from looking at how the cover design developed over 3 years. However, because of the merger with a big Higher Education organisation, some design elements like colours and fonts for the 2021 Prospectus were prescribed by the style guide from this organisation.
