"And then our arrows of desire rewrite the speech”

A happy birthday to the unique and irreplaceable Kate Bush. To celebrate her I created an illustration and animation of her from the Sensual World, one of my favourite songs and albums. Hounds of Love is of course my favourite but this still has a place in my heart.

The song is based on James Joyce’s “Ulysses” where one of the characters Molly Bloom recites a soliloquy which Kate reimagined in this song.
I was so lucky to see her perform in 2014 in Hammersmith and she continues to inspire me to this day. Her voice is like wildfire that has touched so many and there doesn’t seem to be a subject that’s too weird or too left-field for her.  From classic literature to washing machines, emotional dependencies on technology, and singing with blackbirds, it goes to show the level of genius she has.
Always an inspiration to me and everyone who loves her for who she is and may it stay that way!
