The leaflets were distributed to MNS members as an incentive to get them to renew their annual membership. For each year renewed, they would get one version (renew for 5 years, get 5 versions).
Each leaflet was designed to be more than just a leaflet, to have a life of its own after its intended purpose. Members could assemble the animals, and keep them as "pets" on top of their computers or on their car dashboards. Hopefully, the "pets" would become conversation pieces that would interest non-MNS members to learn more about the organisation's many conservation projects.
