Utrecht Central Station and the adjacent Hoog Catharijne shopping center are currently undergoing a major redevelopment under the project name CU2030.
The city of Utrecht has really embraced the opportunity to transform the area with modern open, transparent and light architecture. How different this looks from the closed, concrete and dark buildings of the 1970s that I remember and that created a dominant physical barrier between the station area and the city center.
I have been fascinated by this metamorphosis and with this series have tried to capture the uplifting atmosphere I experienced whilst exploring the area and admiring the architecture.
