As with most promotional campaigns, I was on the team as a finisher at Daniel Clark Creative which worked on the promotional campaign for Moana.
Didn’t do a lot on the payoff poster except a little of the retouching on characters. (mostly Heihei an Pua) Most of what I did was painting where the water met the sand, so I painted the foam, wet sand, bubbles reaching up into the water and making the character look like they were standing “in” the sand. (depth and shadows/contact shadows)

This one was quite a bit of work because I had to painstakingly go over every inch of water and make sure there wasn’t any render artifacts/pixels (there was A LOT) and paint in a wake behind boat. I also matte painted the sky/background, re-lit/retouched the boat and characters.

Quite a bit of work, iterations and rounds went into exploring and achieving the right look of the water as well as a lot of retouching on very high detail characters and costumes to be used on a variety promotion art.
