NASA: 55 Years of Pioneering Exploration
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration or NASA, is a government run organisation furthering the frontiers of mankind by pushing scientific boundaries, including; Space exploration, aeronautics research and technological advancements. Since it’s inception, NASA has spearheaded some of histories most significant discoveries and missions beyond our planet, including: The 1969 Apollo moon landing, The International Space Station and Mars Curiosity Rover.
This is a promotional video, celebrating the accomplishments of NASA over 55 years, since its genesis. It's purpose is to highlight their pioneering achievements, both here on earth, and in the final frontier.
Final Major Project
The project was undertaken as our Final Major Project on our Foundation Degree Graphic Design course. To create the final product, we searched through over 12 hours of real NASA footage, selected the most important clips and compressed them into this 6 minute piece. We created and controlled every aspect of the video including: Music selection, editing, overlaying text, logo and outro animation.
The music was a particularly important decision when constructing the video. Due to the fact we were using mostly old footage that lacked high quality, we could not rely on the visuals to drive the video forward, as a result we felt it was imperative we used a track that invoked both emotion and excitement. After researching and listening to over 50 possible candidates, we eventually decided to use 'Arrival to Earth (Transformers OST) - Steve Jablonsky.
We are very proud of the work and effort gone into creating this piece, and we hope that it gives you insight into the accomplishments of the largest space agency on the planet.
