I started this project in February 2016, at that time there was no map that integrated the most important systems of Mexico City (STC Metro, Metrobús, Tren Ligero and Suburban Train), it seemed like a good idea to create my version.

Comencé este proyecto en febrero de 2016, en ese entonces no existía un mapa que integrara los sistemas más importantes de la Ciudad de México (STC Metro, Metrobús, Tren Ligero y Tren Suburbano), me pareció buena idea crear mi versión.

In 2019, the identity and map of the Integrated Mobility System of Mexico City are presented. There were actually two maps, one for the STC Metro and the other for the Metrobús. The problem with both is that readability was sacrificed when using typography like the Metro, which works very well as signage at Metro stations, but not on the map.

En 2019 se presenta una identidad y el mapa Sistema de Movilidad Integrada de Ciudad de México. En realidad fueron dos mapas, uno del STC Metro y otro para el Metrobús. El problema de ambos es que se sacrificó la legibilidad al usar una tipografía como la Metro, que funciona muy bien como señalización en las estaciones del Metro, pero no en el mapa.

The project started in february 2016 and ended in June 2020, in that period of time 17 versions were made, there were 3 changes of typography (Helvetica Neue, Gotham and ITC Officina Sans STD) and 2 in format (with and without stations in the front face).

El proyecto inicio en marzo de 2016 y concluyó en junio de 2020, en ese lapso de tiempo se realizaron 17 versiones, hubo 3 cambios de tipografía (Helvetica Neue, Gotham y ITC Officina Sans STD) y 2 en formato (con y sin estaciones en la parte frontal).

Design is commutication, everything has a reason to be, nothing is random, everything in the map was designed with the user in mind, to keep the elements in it clear and readables, the map had to put aside some of the official identity elements like the typography because, sometimes we have to do that in order to make a user friendly work.

El diseño es comunicación, todo tiene una razón de ser, nada es aleatorio, todo en el mapa fue diseñado pensando en el usuario, para mantener los elementos en él claros y legibles, el mapa tuvo que dejar de lado algunos elementos de la identidad oficial como la tipografía porque, a veces, tenemos que hacerlo para crear un trabajo fácil de usar.
