Polski Sklep — Editorial Piece
Inspired by the Polish Shops of North West London.
Paying homage to the notable journey of Polish food culture by entwining contemporary minimalism with a 1990’s catalogue aesthetic to present the notable food products that I, like many other Poles abroad ate while growing up.
I wanted to pay homage to the notable journey of Polish food culture by entwining contemporary minimalism with a 1990’s catalogue aesthetic to present the notable food products  that I, like many other Poles abroad ate while growing up. By setting up a hypothetical Polski Sklep interior through an editorial piece, I wanted to invite the audience that either are familiar, or not, to a Polish shop of any sort by including images of shop fronts that I documented in North West London, plus their aisles and products. I decided to use the typeface ‘Eklektyk’ by Laic Type Foundry, due to its Polish origin and memorable stencil style, which reminds me of Polish shop fronts between the years of 1950—1980.
