I worked as a development and maintenance engineer at Aerre Arbros S.A., an SME within the metalworking area. Arbros specializes in the development and manufacture of safety valves and has more than 70 years of experience in manufacturing fluid equipment used in the industry.
As part of a political decision by the managers of the company and amid economic difficulties, I was chosen to carry out the ambitious task of being the technical leader of the change and renewal of its operating platform and products, which have been working correctly and uninterruptedly for several decades. The challenge has meant carrying out various management and engineering tasks at the same time, facing the adversities associated with having limited resources, in the quest for achieving three fundamental specific objectives:
1- Designing and executing the placement of machine-systems according to technical criteria and standards in the new space, after making pertinent developments or improvements in mechanics, electricity, hygiene, and safety. All were framed by a moving plan meticulous, composed of stages.
2- Developing, building, and implementing new technologies for production processes, replacing those used for decades, providing the new space with innovative equipment and cutting-edge tools in the field. 3- Continuing with the engineering / development inherent tasks regarding plant and products, but incorporating continuous improvement, which is aligned with those tasks. Thus, having a quicker and better impact on the search for plant efficiency improvement.
After starting the operations of the company in the new plant, my duties are mainly made up of the following:
-Daily assisting the production management to meet all their technical requirements, through the internal management system.
- Developing and implementing, based on experience and scientific and engineering foundations, the following:
1- Improving equipment, systems, and building and production facilities.
2- Improving the design of manufactured products.
3- New products.
4- Improving devices or tools for production processes.

-Managing preventive and corrective maintenance of machines, equipment, and building and production facilities. In addition, auditing of areas in the plant to control the maintenance of order and cleanliness.
-Renewing or incorporating technologies such as CAD, CAM, and CAE, in favor of digital transformation and the transition to a 4.0 industry. Also, supporting tasks of incorporation of artificial intelligence.
