The past 6 months I have had more and more use for at place where I could get down and dirty while making my collages, and at the same time be sure the paper pieces can lie protected when I am not working. My dream came true just prior to the summer vacation time. I have an office space at LYNfabrikken in Aarhus and during the summer period the basement has been cleared out and meters and meters of table space was ready for me to get started. So as you can guess I haven´t been working on my tan this summer, I have been working on different collages. Some small pieces and one big for an installation at gallery Kirk in Aalborg. I will not be showing pictures of this dangling installation object in this post or the other finished collages, you will have to wait until my exhibition late august till it is hanging and ready for photos.
The basement was originally a place used for storing cheese connected to an old dairy farm, it is 8 degrees rain or shine, so you could imagine the first couple of days before I got heating down there where pretty cold. But now it has the perfect temperature, and the perfect gloomy atmosphere to go into depth with the theme at hand.
I have been working with a darker theame than the lastest collages, which is very apropriate since I have been working in a dark basement. I have been going deeper with my search for inspiration. Within the body I have researched different cells. Who knew a cancer cell could be so beautifull.?  I looked at how we hundred of years ago were able to learn about the human anatomi with the help of exelent artists who drew the dead bodys from within and turned everthing inside out. I have dived deep into the ocean (using google off course, I did´nt really go deep sea diving) and searched for the creatures which live in the dark waters. Old greek statues with their perfection and symmetri became the piller of strenght through out my work. All this I mashed together and created some new collages. So here is a look at my workspace, the paint splatter, the paper and the passion.
On these 4 last pictures you see a variety of different testing of ideas, both made digitally but also by hand, by gluing stuff together, painting on it a playing with tape. Sometimes magic appeared when I least expected it. Maybe having cut a hole in a piece of paper and inattentively putting it to the side only to see it on top of something I would never have thought of mixing it with.
