After co-writing and co-curating world-renowned, international award-winning and critically acclaimed 'The Fall', Thando Mangcu's performance tours of 'The Fall' include the Baxter Theatre Centre (2016 and 2017), Woordfees Festival (2017), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (2017) and Arts Centre Melbourne (2018). In 2020 she completed her dissertation towards an MA Dramaturgy at the University of Cape Town (UCT) titled,' The Staging of Black Consciousness Through Sound, or, the Tactical Benefits of Disappearing'. Part of the MA was completed at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), where she took part in a six-month international exchange.

In 2017 she directed 'Pieces', a Fleur du Cap nominated play (Best New Director, 2018). The play was devised under the TAAC Emerging Director's Bursary. She co-choreographed 'Delayed Replays' (with Sizwesandile Mnisi and Sihle Mnqwazana), performed at the Centre for African Studies (CAS) Gallery in 2017. In 2016 she was mentored by Sello Pesa of Ntsoana Contemporary Dance Theatre. In 2015, her final year at UCT, she co-wrote 'Don't Shoot the Harbinger', supervised by Clare Stopford and Mark Fleishman. The play received the 'Most Promising Writers' award at the National Arts Festival, Makhanda Fringe.
