Gender Pay Gap Infographic Lampshade

The Gender Pay Gap Lampshade
Tangible Infographic
A Study of Australian Gender Pay Gap (GPG) Statistics from the 2014-19 Financial Years.
Infographics are created in relation to raw data-sets from the Australian Bureau of Statistics in conjunction with the Australian Gender Equality Organisation regarding topics of gender, industry, age and workplace equality.
My action to the GPG issue was to create a lampshade that represents and highlights the differences between men and women in the workplace. The concept was to bring awareness, spark conversation and disperse data in an easily legible, visually aesthetic, and appropriate solution for any office, building or space that requires light. As the day progresses on, and the workplace becomes dark; the light will serve as a reminder, shining a shadow of the inequalities and oppressions subjected to women as part of a prejudiced and patriarchal system.

The lampshade was constructed for the intent of a multivariate information design with three variables presented through a tree map. Using a long cardboard strip to create the shade, coloured paper noted the gender variables, cellophane noted the workplace industry and the size of each tree map channel indicates the percentage at which the Gender Pay Gap exists.
