A retired army captain, Dr. James D. Tollman has served as president of Essex Inpatient Physicians, since 2007. James D. Tollman, MD also holds membership with several professional organizations, such as the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM), which works to improve conditions for hospital workers and patients.
The SHM has recently announced its newest board of directors, Danielle Scheurer, MD, being named president while Jerome C. Siy, MD, was voted president-elect. Alongside this, Dr. Kris Rehm became secretary while Dr. Rachel Thompson was elected treasurer. The organization also welcomed Darlene Tad-y, MD, for a three-year term on the board.
Dr. Scheurer stated that she was looking forward to taking the SHM to new heights and highlights that the work the organization does for the healthcare community is essential. She also expressed her intent to find new paths ahead for the hospitalist specialty while also helping to provide the highest quality of care.
