A fairy-tale at sunset, beautiful reflections cast in full splendor over Rutland Water showing the full splendour of St Matthew's Church is a grade II listed building its classic style build took place between 1826 and 1829 saved public outcry in 1970 when plans to flood the area, once a private chapel to Normanton Estate. Following public outcry, the lower half was filled with stone and a concrete cap constructed at window  level the area around the church an embankment was built leaving a prominent structure at the water's edge.
