The Grandparents Project

The Grandparents Project
As a college student, life moves fast. It feels like only yesterday I was stepping foot on campus for the first time. As I kept taking strides towards full fledged adulthood, it was lost on me that my grandparents were not frozen in time for ever. It's only in recent weeks that I have started to look back and realize how little I have from my grandparents to remember them by - tangible or otherwise - and frankly, it scares me. I have spent years focusing on the forward trajectory of my life and have allowed precious moments with the ones that made it all possible slip through my fingers.

This is where my project started. I wanted to do something that would allow me to look back and remember my grandparents just as they were, even as I continue to take steps into my own adult life. Luckily, photography excels in the area of freezing moments in time. This project quickly became a personal challenge to grow my photography skills and to create a lasting image of my remaining grandparents that were true representations of who they are in life.

Important Note: This work is heavily influenced by the work of Sean Tucker.
