AN END CARD ANIMATION

My goal with this project was to create an end title card for a YouTube channel. It needed to be 30 seconds of animated graphics. The project was created using Adobe Illustrator and After Effect for the animating.
Storyboard
I started by creating a simple storyboard with the rough outline of what assets I needed and the motion of those assets. I planned for more subtle motion in the animation with things like leaves falling from the tree, the sun moving and some birds flying away.

First Draft
My first draft in Illustrator was to just make some simple assets and position them in the frame and get a feel of how I wanted to block it out. At this point I decided to remove the human element from the scene and replace it with just the sword and shield. I felt better for an end title card.
Second Draft
Next, I started dialing in on the style I wanted to go for, with heavy, prominent textures. It gave the scene a little bit more of a gritty feel which I liked. It was also at this point that I got some feedback about how when the sun goes down, that it should turn dark, so I implemented that into the design.

To do this, I created to different scenes entirely in Illustrator to get the right feel for the colors. Then in After Effects, I used opacity to move between the two.
Wrapping It Up
After animating it, I added a vignette focus more on the center and added a color LUT to give a general grittiness to the color pallet. Overall, I am happy how it turned out and how it looks.
