In an attempt to propose a small neigborhood in the sky, in terms of circulation we relied on a core that contains all vertical circulation access including services and egress. while the pedistrian route within the neighborhood consists of a ring that divides the area into two zones which assists in rigulation purpuses such as height and type of home. There are three main public spaces, The Mosque, The Park and the Terrace. which is reflecting our Arabic Muslim culture which includes in main parts religion and neighboors.
To achieve our gool of making a neighborhood , we needed the freedom for the residents to design their own homes, and to do that we had to rely on structural solutions that can give us a space that is stable and has no walls of structural elements abstructiong the space in the neighborhood. We started with only floating slabs, surrounded them by four large colums, three rings attatched to the columns, another four tilted rings. the three rings are carrying the slabs with steel cables dividing the tension and compression load between a cable and the other, The four tilted rings also has rings that ties the slabes to provide stability against the wind.
Since it is a neighborhood, like any sufficient one, it needs it’s services and everything that serves into a good quality of life, Hence the hood’s bottom part has offices, dining areas, a maker’s space and a commercial area. those are located in the bottom part of the hood, which is constructed in a totally different structural approach, since the conditions are different and to indicate the idea that a Vertical neighborhood is an independant zone and mass that can be designed and constructed anywhere and on top of anything !
