Absolute Egypt book

ABSOLUTE EGYPT BOOK

Absolute Egypt book documents and discusses the local vernacular visual culture of Egypt from a graphic design lens, which presents its most widely-spread and iconic graphic designs. Our local designs needed to have a proper research-based approach to investigate, document and organize them for all looking into knowing and getting inspired by the Egyptian visual culture.
IDEA BEHIND THE BOOK

This project was initiated to research the importance of our designs and how we live in Egypt through graphic design and it was first introduced in the German University in Cairo in its first exhibition and book launch ad a bachelor project, supervised until completion by Philipp Paulsen, and was later published after a few years by Khatt Books.
BOOK'S FIELD RESEARCH

This book’s field research started quite intuitively. It was a long journey through the busy areas of old local Cairo (shown below) like Al-Tahrir square, Al-Moaz street and Al-Korba area, documenting anything that could be categorized as graphic design.
