The exhibition is based on materials of the Art School held at the Ural Branch of the NCCA during May 4-17 and at the “Metenkov House” Museum of Photography during May 8-17. The project consisted of four workshops led by German artists that could be attended by anybody who had passed the competitive selection process. The workshops functioned for two weeks straight in the following areas: photography, video art, sound art. Art School students – people of different occupations, ages, and experience – mastered new programs, techniques, and approaches practiced by German artists.

Boris Hegenbart – musician and composer of electroacoustic music and sound art, founder of the [# / TAU] project – prepared a course about working with sound. The participants of his workshop concentrated on creating a sound sculpture. Accordingly, their source material was sound, recorded and then divided into constituent parts. The exhibition presents the resulting sound installation “Koleidoskopen 20000”. Its special feature is the fact that viewers can interact with it using a “sensor”. Thus, they will be able to alter the way their surrounding space sounds. The project had required the expertise of computer coders, musicians, sound engineers, and artists. The joint effort under the guidance of Boris Hegenbart led to the creation of a complex media object.

Boris Hegenbart’s workshop participants:
Valya Anufrieva, Max Ilinov, Dasha Kolmakova, Dima Krylov, Sasha Kuznetsov, Kirill Likhin, Nastya Meister, Maria Prosvirnikova, Nikita Rokotyan
