No Mud No Lotus Silkscreen Design (Spring 2020)

Multi-color silkscreen design! "No Mud, No Lotus" refers to the lotus flower growing through the mud before it blooms, and also lends to the idea of having to go through hard times before getting to the good ones. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, I was unable to print this design.
Initial sketches.
The order in which the screens would have to be printed. These are the film positives that would be exposed onto screens for the ink to flow through. This is intended to be printed onto a light pink paper.
1. White. Provides the base for the design, and white in various opacity to give a cool effect to the water.
2. Pink. This is the base for the lotus flowers. Note the reflected, lower opacity flowers in the water.
3. Red. The red gradient adds depth to the lotus flowers, so you can see each petal. Also reflected in the water. The opacity is low enough so that the red doesn't come through in it's full effect, and doesn't overpower the pink.
