"Piyesta"
"Piyesta" is a 32-page comic book made by the artist for her year-end thesis. It is about the Filipino-Chinese/Chinoy diaspora in the Philippines and discusses topics of cultural dissonance and dealing with two cultural identities. This comic book is based off of the artist's personal experiences with cultural dissonance; as a third-generation Chinese immigrant living in the Philippines, the artist has constantly been confused as to which culture she 'belonged' to. At present, she still struggles to find her identity, both on a personal and cultural level, but has grown to love all parts of herself for who she is.
