TREE - Wood Sculpture

TREE
2020
For some reason, the tree that had grown to the left were forced to grow to the right
under the influence of the strong wind,
nevertheless I represented the figure that it lives strong without losing.
It is also a design that reminds me of the "KIDEKIWOHORU" logo.
The appearance is unbalanced, but it is actually a balanced design.

PROCESS
When I think about design, I use environmentally friendly clay that can be used over and over again. However, if I make thin and delicate shapes, due to its characteristics, the shapes quickly lose because it cannot resist gravity. To avoid that, I’ve always made works on a balanced, slightly conservative designs.
However, when I was thinking about the design of this work, I have discovered a way being able to maintain the shapes of thin and delicate. Therefore, I was able to think of a more adventurous design rather than before. I hope that way it will also go well in the future.
When I thought of a design in which the branches of a tree would grow in free space, I was very worried about the order in which I should carve. The shapes cannot be decided without carving to some extent. However, if I carve it in detail, it may be broken down by the stimulus when I hit the other parts with a chisel. I have finally come to this stage, thinking and devising such things.
