Most posters are based on intensive study and research of Navajo mythology and history. The illustrations, created in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop have been inspired by Navajo sand paintings some of which I discovered in out of print books, dating back to 1930. Each symbolic representation carries its own meaning, deeply rooted in Navajo traditions. Photos for the Diné Alphabet Poster are reflecting cultural context and are along with the plant photos taken from my own photo collection.
