Student work for my MA Book Design postgraduate course.
The assignment was to design a book cover series on any subject or author. I decided to make a sci-fi series on some of the works of the late Ray Bradbury. To make the series a series, I used Antique Olive in the same size and space on all the covers, emphasizing the "Ray" in his surname, "Bradbury". I wanted to use colours reminiscent of the 1950's and 60's tones and hues that were used in sci-fi comic books, posters and film propaganda. The illustration icons were done in Illustrator to be integrated with cut out pieces of paper that I made and scanned for each theme. The cover paper is 170gr of Arctic paper from Munken of their Ivory White range. The book would be a soft cover paperback, perfect-bound.
