KRAFTWERK 2020 // LYRIC ZINE & VINYL
In 2020 Kraftwerk officially announced they will be touring once again to mark their 50th anniversary.
To celebrate their global tour, I have designed a greatest hit’s Vinyl accompanied with a lyric zine for all tracks featuring on the album.
CONCEPT //
Kraftwerk’s approach displayed a method of delivery that was dictated by function over form. Reflecting their imagery, their image celebrates function. They valued separating the physical from the aesthetic.
Since Kraftwerk’s debut release the world finds itself desperately trying to reduce it’s carbon footprint in an attempt to combat climate change. One increasingly popular method is using renewable energy farms instead of fossil fuels. Though this is an effective way of bettering the planets health, it doesn’t come without it’s critics.
With natural landscapes changing protests are globally taking place under the premise that these renewable energy farms are “Aesthetically unappealing.” We can allow our aesthetic perception of nature and technology coalescing be negative or we can embrace it’s function, whilst appreciating the new aesthetic for it’s created by the contrast.
